The conclusion I get is that Joomla programmers DO NOT want the home page to have a different template, and if you do, do so at your own peril because things will break.Nothing to resolve here, this is expected behavior. When a given page does not resolve to a menu item, home menu item is used. Default template is used by menu items that have no template style selected. In your case, you do have a template style set in the home menu item.
Our options are, either no special template for the home page, which is ridiculous in my opinion, or to re-right the code myself. It seems the latter is the most viable option, however hard it may be. Wish me luck and if anyone can help by pointing me in the right direction as to where to start, I would greatly appreciate it.
